Using Automated Workflow to Ease Traffic Congestion!

FlowWright used in traffic management softwareTraffic congestion is a huge issue in populated areas. Highway management departments implement systems to manage both widespread and local congestion.

In Boston, when the Patriots or a concert is playing at Gillette Stadium,  there is enormous traffic volume beforehand and afterward.  This congestion is handled using a hybrid method, through 1) automated systems attended by humans in a control room, and 2) police officers directing traffic.

Another example: airports have had to adapt to traffic increases due to ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft.  To cope with this new congestion, airports have implemented designated areas for Uber pickups and drop-off points to help avoid back ups during pick up and drop off sites.

An OEM customer of ours provides traffic solutions that use hardware and software to better manage traffic patterns.  The OEM's solutions are recognized around the globe.  Typically, our customer goes to the site/country and a team studies the traffic patterns and the congestion and comes up with algorithms they apply to solve congestion and emergency response access issues.  Congestion scenarios differ for at each customer location.

At airports, you have seen that when congestion starts, the airport opens new lanes to distribute the traffic load onto.  That function is done by signaling a fully automated process, in our client's case using FlowWright, in conjunction with sensors that monitor the traffic flow and backflow.

As a customer, the benefits of integrating FlowWright into your traffic solution to drive traffic scenario solutions yields big rewards.  Before integrating, the OEM software solution needs to be configured for each scenario, which is accomplished through use of the FlowWright graphical workflow designer.  Traffic congestion solution are then executed using FlowWright in realtime, too.

This use case - using FlowWright to manage traffic solutions -  show how powerful FlowWright is when embedded into third-party software to execute workflow process automation.  Learn more today about how to embed FlowWright into your software product to increase productivity.
